Mary received an Honorary Doctorate in Literature from the University College Dublin.

To celebrate some of the stellar talents in Irish folk music, UCD (University College Dublin) awarded a Ulysses Medal (their highest honour) to Paul Brady and honorary doctorates to Mary Bergin, Mary Black, Finbar Furey, Paddy Glackin, Andy Irvine, Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill and Mary O’Hara.
